Kira’s research examines trophic interactions between soil microbes and vascular plants in blanket bog ecosystems on the central coast of British Columbia. Her main objective is to assess how changing precipitation regimes affect ecosystem processes. Her research focuses on how increased instances of drought, coupled with more extreme rainfall events may change the composition, structure, and function of soils and their ability to store dissolved organic carbon.
