The health of a cell is governed by the activity of its proteins. Therefore, over-activity of specific proteins causes severe diseases such as cancer. Miriam's research aims to develop new cancer-targeting drugs that function by knocking out cancer promoting proteins. In her research, she uses an innovative method of inhibiting a protein's activity by using a drug to glue it to the cell membrane.
