B.A. Communication, 2012, Université Laval
M.A. Communication, 2014, Université Laval
Ph.D. Communication, 2015-2020, Université du Québec à Montréal
Anne-Marie’s doctoral thesis addresses how female politicians in the House of Commons in Ottawa and at the National Assembly in Québec – who in 2015, did not secure more than 20 percent of press coverage – use social media to overcome the obstacles associated with traditional media outlets that compromise their ability to be heard.
Anne-Marie will be conducting a detailed analysis of the Twitter and Facebook strategies used by elected officials to communicate with citizens and take part in public debate. She will also evaluate whether making effective use of social media can help them reshape the public arena traditionally dominated by men.
